A friend told me about an event that was going on downtown sponsored by the Imagination Library. There was face painting, clowns, a magician, and some storybook characters. The goose is absolutely obsessed with Curious George. We have seen every single episode probably 100 times or more. Every night she runs into our room and says "Bed! George!". She grabs her daddy and drags him to our bed where they lay down and watch an episode on his iphone. It amazes me how smart little ones are with technology. She opens up the app, clicks on George and enlarges the screen. They pick up on stuff so fast! Then if we are out shopping she digs my phone out of my purse and turns George on and contently watches while I shop. The way she says George always cracks us up. You would think she was from Boston and not South Carolina in how she says George.
As soon as we walked up to the event , there HE was! She squealed, "GEORGE!" I had kind of thought she would be a little scared of him or wondered why he was so big :) We were able to get a quick picture and then she was off to check out the fountains. Another thing she is crazy for is water! The plaza where the event was held was surrounded by water and fountains so she just kept running back and forth! Later on she saw George and the character from Where the Wild Things Are and she ran up and gave them both high fives!
Since it was such a pretty day we decided to stroll around downtown. We checked out a toy store to try to get ideas for her birthday/Christmas. They had a little Curious George stuffed animal that we will have to get. Surprisingly she doesn't have one already.
Then we walked up on WOLI (Wheel of Lights and Inspiration) which is a ferris wheel that they set up in town just for 2 weeks to help draw people into the city. My husband works downtown and can see it from his office. His coworkers and himself had been talking about how random it was to look out and there was just this ferris wheel in the middle of downtown. He didn't quite get the point of it but I think it did bring a good many people out.
Anyways we walked up to it and I asked her if she wanted to ride it. Of course her answer to everything here lately is a quick and short "Yeah". Daddy however was a little hesitant thinking she wouldn't be still and that she would jump out of it or something. After watching some other smaller children riding it, I convinced him to give it a try.
We got in and up we went!
She followed instructions well and hung on to the bar in the middle of the buggy. When I looked up I then understood why daddy was so hesitant to get on. The boy is scared of heights! He was just sitting there with his face down, eyes closed and taking slow deep breaths.
I ended up being more worried about him than the goose! He was SO ready to get off of it! She started screaming when they had us get off because she wanted to keep riding! Daddy however was ecstatic!
Beside the ferris wheel they had some sidewalk chalk for the kids. Ella LOVES sidewalk chalk! During the week at Nana's she draws all over the driveway and sidewalk. She ran over to the bucket and got busy!
After a fun morning we had some lunch and went to our favorite store Target :)
She takes such small bites :)
When we got home daddy let us girls take a LONG nap and he did yard work all afternoon. Later on him and the goose went to Grandma's house and I was able to get all the housecleaning done!
Absolutely Perfect Day!!!
How I found them watching George tonight. I think the wrong one fell asleep haha!!
And as a disclaimer I apologize for all the pics being phone pics! My sister has already gotten on to me for not using my nice new camera today! I will try better next time :)
